CYCLE 1 – Celebrating 100 Days of Learning

Last week, our Cycle 1 Receptions celebrated an important milestone — 100 days of school! To mark the occasion, Tash’s class and Rachel and Olivia’s class took part in a variety of creative,
hands-on activities that showcased both their learning and growth.
In the lead-up to the celebration, students prepared colourful tie-dye t-shirts, which they proudly wore on the day.

Our maths work from the first two terms was complemented by fun projects, including:

  • 100 Bead Necklaces – Children created their own necklaces by stringing 100 beads in groups of 10, using patterns to represent skip counting (e.g. alternating colours every ten beads).
    This reinforced sequencing and counting.
  • 100 Paper Chain – Each class collaborated to build a 100-link chain, practising counting by tens and teamwork.
  • Balloon-Shaped 100 Board – Students placed stickers in number order or used dice to explore counting and number recognition on a 100 board designed in the shape of a balloon.

The children also revisited their earlier self-portrait work, imagining what they might look like at 100 years old and creating portraits of their centenarian selves. This special day was a celebration
of both perseverance and progress — a joyful reminder of how far our students have come and all that lies ahead.
