Child Safety and Protection
Southern Montessori School is committed to and promotes the safety, wellbeing, inclusion, participation and empowerment of all children.
The school has adopted and consistently maintains the National Child Safe Principles to prevent harm to children and young people. This along with the Australian Student Wellbeing Framework, guides our current practices and future endeavors regarding the health and wellbeing of our students.
All students participate in approved child protection lessons each year. The Keeping Safe: Child Protection Curriculum teaches children and young people (age 3 to year 12) to recognise abuse, tell a trusted adult, understand what is appropriate and inappropriate touching and ways to keep themselves safe. All teachers are trained in the delivery of this curriculum.
Southern Montessori School has rigorous human resources and recruitment practices for all its staff and volunteers. All of our people, including volunteers and contractors, are required to hold a current Working with Children Check.
