Community

Our School community is vibrant, caring and welcoming.

Founded originally by a small group of enthusiastic and committed parents who wanted a Montessori education for their children, Southern Montessori School continues to thrive thanks to a deeply engaged parent community.

We value strong and close communication with our families, and their active participation as volunteers and at social events.

Many of our families will tell you that they have made lifelong friends as their children journey from the Early Learning Centre through Primary School and into the Middle School.

Parent Education

To help deepen our families’ understanding of Montessori learning, we regularly offer parent workshops, Coffee With a Dash of Montessori, on a range of topics, as well as inviting guest speakers from the wider community to provide information sessions.

Open classroom experiences allow parents to observe their child in their normal classroom learning environment. Special assemblies and showcases provide students with the opportunity to present to their families.

Alumni

We welcome our alumni and their families to attend school events. If you would like to receive information about events, please take a moment to update your contact details with us by emailing: admin@southernmontessori.sa.edu.au

Parents and Friends

The Parents and Friends (P&F) is a voluntary group that aims to help build a positive and engaging school community. The P&F fosters relationships between families, organises varied fun events as well as fundraising to further enrich our children’s learning experience.

Parent Class Representatives

Parent Class Representatives play an important role in fostering our strong sense of community.

This role involves:

  • Welcoming new families to the class
  • Organising social events for the class/Cycle
  • Seeking parent involvement within the class as requested by the class teacher

'For me, the sense of community was apparent right from the moment my son started Montessori and has grown stronger as each year passes. The connection with teachers, parents and other students has been invaluable for our family, and we have both made new friends that have become a special part of our life outside of school too.'
